Our study of the Parables of Jesus continues with a discussion about the Parable of the Sower. Join us Friday as we examine Jesus’ teaching to determine our heart’s receptivity to God’s Word.
Do you have a green thumb? Do you have the ability to grow a garden or a flowerbed, to work the soil and see it produce something both beautiful and useful?
True confession – I don’t!
Truth be told, I have what many would consider to be a brown thumb. I’m not really sure where it came from because my mom could grow anything…anywhere! She once kept a Christmas Poinsettia alive, for like for years. I couldn’t believe it. I’d go back to visit her and my dad in Maryland in the summertime, and that Poinsettia was still thriving in their living room. She could name every flower in her yard and tell you everything you ever wanted to know about each one.
Having been married now for over 31 years, I wish I would have gleaned a little of her wisdom, it would have saved me a ton of money for all the plants I’ve bought and then subsequently killed.
The Parable of the Sower
Jesus does something unique in this parable, as He gives us the meaning of the parable immediately afterward. But the truth is there is still much more we can gain by rolling up our sleeves and playing in the dirt!
So join us this Friday, 7:00 a.m. at Cabernet Steakhouse on Windward Parkway as we look at The Seed, The Sower, The Soils, and Satan’s Strategies!
It is with great expectancy that I will see you there,
This Week’s Key Verses:
“’A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path; it was trampled on, and the birds ate it up. Some fell on rocky ground, and when it came up, the plants withered because they has no moisture. Other see fell among thorns, which grew up with it and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil. It came up and yielded a crop, a hundred times more than was sown.’ When he said this, he called out, ‘Whoever has ears to hear, let them hear.’” – Luke 8:5-8
“’For I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment – what to say and what to speak. And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has told me.’” – John 12:49,50
“Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness that implanted word, which is able to save your souls.” – James 1:21
