The other day two comic books showed up on my desk at work. They were both from the 70’s. I thought they would be worth more than the face value, so the first chance I got I had one of our guys do a little research.
One was selling online for $60 and the other for $100! That amazes me, a comic book for that kind of money!
When you stop to think about it, is it really worth that much? Perhaps, but the truth is, it’s only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it.
Did you know that your value is directly tied to the price Jesus paid for you?
You are so valuable to God that He sent His one and only Son to be born of a virgin, living without sin for thirty-three years on this earth, dying on the cross of Calvary…just for you!
That salvation, the Bible says is free to you and me if we will repent of our sin and accept God’s gracious gift of forgiveness. Salvation is free to you and me, but it cost Jesus everything!
Discipleship, on the other hand, isn’t free, it costs you and me everything!
That’s where we find ourselves in this week’s journey through “Did Jesus Say That?”
As large crowds were following Jesus, He knew it was time to thin the herd. How did He do that? By laying down some serious truth which is found in Luke 14:25-35.
This is without a doubt some of the strongest and hardest words our Savior ever spoke.
So we are going to work our way through this passage with patience and persistence. It’s time to man up and pay the price of following hard after Jesus!
Join us Friday, 7:00 a.m. at The Cabernet Steakhouse on Windward Parkway as we come face to face with the divine truth that can, and will, change our lives!
It is with great expectancy that I will see you there,

This Week’s Key Verses:
“Now great crowds accompanied him, and he turned and said to them. ‘If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.” – Luke 14:25-27
“Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” – Matthew 10:39
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name? And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.” – Matthew 7:21-23
