It seems so basic and such a simple part of the over-all construction process, but getting the foundation right is tremendously important.
A foundation provides the base and support that is necessary to keep the structure from settling improperly and tearing apart whatever is built on it. Any mistakes that are made in the foundation become magnified and get worse as time moves forward.
Longevity and stability depend on a solid foundation. If the foundation is weak or is destroyed the structure will collapse. It’s true in buildings, in business and in life.
So, how is your foundation?
Better question, …what is your foundation? How would you characterize it?
What are the dynamics that drive the activities of your life? What are the core values that construct your foundation? Do they square up with what God requires of us?
As Moses was leading the Israelites through the wilderness he provided a calibration to God’s perspective and requisites. Checkout Deuteronomy 10:12:
Now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require from you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and love Him, and to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
Fear the Lord in order to walk in His ways.
Love Him in order to serve Him with all your heart.
These same foundational dynamics apply to you and me today. We cannot fear God properly without loving Him. We cannot love God properly without fearing Him.
Over 300 times we are told in the Bible to fear God. Over 300 times we are told to not fear. We know God’s doesn’t double-talk, so what does it mean to fear God?
We’ll take a closer look at all of this Friday morning at Cabernet. Join us around the tables where friends meet and the discussions are lively.
Doors open at 6:30 and we’ll start promptly at 7AM. Hope to see you early!
