~ One Thing for Men
Ever been in a car that is out of alignment?
The steering wheel shakes. The seat shakes. Things rattle. Tires don’t wear even. Things just seem out of balance …all because of an alignment problem.
Changing tires doesn’t fix the problem if your wheel alignment is off… and guys, changing where you live or the lady you are married to won’t fix your problem if your understanding, alignment and living out of man’s role as husband is not right.
A Biblical alignment of manhood involves men who accept full responsibility under God’s rule and serve His eternal purposes as leaders in their home.
This week we will take a look at the shallow view of love that men more and more commonly embrace and then tackle the role reversal, strained dynamics and rocky relationships that lead to so many failed marriages.
If over 50% of the automobiles produced by a car manufacturer failed, the company would close down. If over 50% of airplanes crashed before completing their flights, everyone would stop flying.
When the goal and promise and expectations are 100%, but the success is less than half, a crisis exists.
Today’s percentages on failed and troubled marriages is staggering. We have a marriage crisis …and guys; our role needs to be embraced and aligned.
There is a very damaging line of thinking and lack of thinking that has now become the majority norm in our society. The Apostles Paul and Peter have very direct and helpful things to say on this.
Most of the things we will present in Friday’s opening are not the views you will hear at work, on television, read in a magazine or catch at the movies. No big surprise… that is not where marriage was invented.
Marriage is God’s institution. It was his idea… and He sets the rules. He has painted the picture and in doing so has provided some great goals and guidelines.
I hope you can join us at the tables where friends meet and the discussions are lively.
Hope to see you all early…

Following is a letter from Ryan sent to the 240 plus families involved in our One Thing for Youth program. It will help further explain some of the what and why and heart of this event and ministry.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and thank you for your encouragement, prayers and support.
Family and Friends,
You all know me and my family and our decision to follow God’s calling for our life to start OneThing Ministries.
Throughout the last 7 years, God has done a lot of things in my life…but the one challenge I feel God has laid on my heart is to help build on and strengthen the relationship between boys and their fathers through sports. In my case, obviously, I love the World of Baseball…so 4 years ago I took a leap of faith and started One Thing for Youth Ministries!!
My relationship with my father was best around baseball. I never felt unloved, I never felt I fell short of his expectations, or that I disappointed him on the field. Well, only once after fighting an umpire 🙁 Bad Call lol 😐
When I began to teach and coach this game with my boys… Wow did I see a difference… not only in fathers’ and sons’ relationships in and around the game but also in the game itself. I was amazed and couldn’t even imagine playing in and around the amount of talent and pressure at such a young age our kids do now. I was seeing that for a lot of coaches and teams it was no longer a game…. it had turned into a job for 8-14 year-olds! And if you didn’t win or succeed every time (in a sport where you can fail 7 out of 10 times and make the Hall of Fame), it wasn’t good enough.
This is where I found my opportunity of influence….
This journey has not been easy….
Many days and nights this has taken me away from my family, my job and my friends, but what it has done has given me purpose and an opportunity to change not only why the game is played, but how we teach it. Priority is the relationships between Fathers & Sons and the growth of these Next Generation players…knowing this game and everything surrounded by it can and will become an idol if we let it. Your flesh will suck it out of you if you do not have both feet on the ground, in God’s Word and surrounded by Godly men who love Him & are in it with you…. It will get you!
So that is why I feel it is very important to remind ourselves…
WHY we do what we do….
We exist to encourage kids in their walk with God while building skills for life…
By teaching, encouraging, challenging, pushing, giving, talking, living life with and most importantly hold them accountable…
Through this Great Game of Baseball…
Throughout life we don’t find many friends or family who are willing to come out & Make a Difference. It is common to get Comfortable, and stop thinking that we can Move the Meter. We sell Ourselves, Our Experience, and Our Influence Short and don’t push for Excellence.
We strive for Excellence on the field, expecting our boys to always give 110%. Yet, as an adult we can find ourselves sitting and waiting for someone else to do it…let them make a difference…when we have the best opportunity in the world staring us in the face. Do you ever hear your spirit inside say… “Stand up and show these boys what it means to be Excellent, what it means to Trust, what it means to Give, what it means to put yourself Last, so others can be First!”
One Thing Ministries (Youth & Men) has shown me that with being part of something bigger than me (us) with other like-minded people…. we can do anything! If We Can Just Remember to Look Up, Put God First & Give Him All The GLORY!!!!!
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another. – Proverbs 27:17
Less of Me for More of Him!!!!
He must increase, but I must decrease. – John 3:30
In this life we are always about being first! (in baseball, in life, in work)
Let’s be last.
And He sat down, and called the twelve and said unto them, “If any man desires to be first, the same shall be last of all and servant of all.”
– Mark 9:35
Let’s give so others can be first.
Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves. – Philippians 2:3
Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Outdo yourselves in honoring one another. – Romans 12:10
Let’s Do This Thing!
Let our Spirit Rise Up!
Let’s show this next Generation that…a little bit of Enthusiasm, Hard Work and the Willingness to Stand Up can and does go a Long Way.
We are so blessed to live where we live, to play where we play, and to have each other in our lives.
One Thing for Men…. my brothers
One Thing for Youth…. my boys and families
I LOVE YOU ALL!!!!
Let’s get ready to Serve…
Dawg and Jacket Nation, Look up to our King of Kings and our Lord of Lords, the Creator of All, and know He has us. All we have to do is deliver the message!
If you can give, there is no amount too big or too small… if you can or can’t be there… invite someone!!
